Jenna & Lee
BRIEF : Jenna and Lee, a lovely young couple from London, had a guest list of 240 for their Jewish wedding in 2014. Our first task was to source a venue on the River Thames which could accommodate large numbers and would permit us to bring in external Kosher caterers. It was imperative that we had a solid understanding of the Jewish faith and the wedding customs it dictates. Visually, the couple wanted a soft and romantic palette, incorporating peach and pink, which was to extend from the lighting right down to the buttonholes. As part of all our packages we offer a design and styling service, which Jenna and Lee enlisted in order to realise their dream of having their initials displayed during the reception.
RESULT : Set on the peaceful banks of the Thames, the Runnymede Hotel & Spa was the perfect venue for this special day. Liaising closely with the hotel, we tailored the ceremony room to the couple’s tastes, bringing in alternative seating, a beautiful chuppah and advanced sound systems to ensure the “brachot” (blessings) were audible from the back. We dealt with key aspects such a sight lines and layout, centring the set design around a hard-backed, carpeted catwalk for the bridal party. Draping swathes of white voile around the room, we introduced character to the textured walls using subtle peach lighting which softened the feel of the large space and provided a backdrop against which their initials could be mounted. These giant letters would later become a key feature behind the top table. To commence the ceremony, separate rooms were decorated for the customary Jewish wedding traditions such as a bedecking and a minyan.
During the one hour turnaround time between the ceremony and breakfast, we once again transformed the room layout, bringing in a white star-lit dance floor and richening the lighting for the evening with shades of pink cast against the fabric backdrop. Working with high-end Kosher caterers we ensured that throughout the day, from the canapés to the evening buffet, all food was prepared and served in compliance with the Jewish faith. With our On the Day Management service taking care of every detail, the bride and groom were free to enjoy the klesma band and traditional Jewish dancing with their guests.
