Kate & Richard
BRIEF : Having already secured the lovely Tithe Barn at Burford Bridge Hotel, Kate and Richard wanted to do something unusual with the space and approached us for advice on design and styling. After discovering the couple’s shared love of skiing during our first meeting, we were able to develop a subtle theme which would run throughout the wedding. Kate was particularly keen on feminine pinks and purples, requesting that fresh hydrangeas dominate the floristry, and we were tasked with combining this colour scheme with elements of the snowy slopes to create something their guests would never forget.
RESULT : Alongside the coordination of all their existing suppliers and the design of their stationery, we dramatically re-designed the Tithe Barn from top to bottom, bringing in dozens of 8 foot frosted white birch trees and washing the walls with delicate purple up-lighting. Tables were named after ski resorts, and elaborate crystal chandeliers adorned with white hydrangea garlands provided impressive focal points on each one. Fine purple glassware, charger plates and tea light holders added flashes of colour to the icy scene, with biodegradable natural petal confetti dotting the white table linen.
Clear ghost chairs with white seat pads replaced the venue’s standard style, adding the illusion of icicles amongst the wintry trees. The top table, adorned simply with pink, blue and purple hydrangeas, was moved aside during the room turnaround so that a white star-lit dance floor could take its place. In an adjoining room, vintage wooden skis replaced a traditional guest book, and as the reception drew to a close a dramatic firework display took place outside - a nod to the happy couple’s first date.
