Private Client - Summer Party
WHO: Private Client
WHAT: Shared 50th and 1st Birthday Lunch Party
BRIEF: This private client wanted to combine the celebrations of a 50th birthday and a 1st birthday into a summer lunch party at their home in Essex, for extended friends and family. They requested a marquee in their spacious garden that would be large enough to accommodate a stage and dance floor, as well as outdoor furniture for the drinks reception. They wanted the celebrations of this special occasion to be marked in relaxed way, with beautiful décor, unusual floristry and outstanding entertainment.
RESULT: A large white marquee was constructed on the grounds, within which we fitted a white dancefloor, a stage area big enough for a 12 piece band, and long tables for guests to be seated at during the lunch. Elsewhere on the lawn, white vintage garden furniture and mini-doughnut tricycle greeted guests for a relaxed champagne and Pimms reception.
The marquee interior was designed to be light, airy and colourful without losing warmth and a friendly feel. The long tables were covered in crisp white linen and adorned with clusters of greenery set in white vessels of varying heights. The unusual centrepieces – tall copper structures from which real oranges were suspended – were interspersed amongst the greenery, while the bespoke seat pads of the ghost chairs subtly highlighted the tones of the plants and oranges.
Lunch was served on informal sharing platters and while the guests ate, the entertainment began, with singers moving from one table to the next. We installed a number of large plasma screens around the room, so that video footage could be played during the speeches and the toast.
