Sophie & Mike
BRIEF : Sophie and Mike came to us after hitting obstacles with various practical and logistical aspects of their tipi wedding. They quickly realised there were visual elements which needed some attention, so our role grew as their needs did. Sophie was a very creative bride with a clear vision of the day; everything we sourced needed to complement her eclectic style, which included elements of vintage, traditional, carnival and festival. She had purchased several quirky items which were to be creatively woven into the day (such as a faux zebra head and a silver-plated alligator mouth) and she had hand-drawn a gold motif to feature throughout her stationery.
RESULT : From the installation of the tipi into the family’s cherry orchard, through to the personalised hashtag flags waved by guests on the Routemaster buses, we coordinated and supervised every detail. To provide shade and a wet weather contingency plan during the lawn drinks reception, we extended a modern marquee off the pool room, and dotted elegant white vintage parasols throughout the garden. Our design team incorporated Sophie’s intricate motif throughout her printed stationery, making it an integral aspect of her table design, and the zebra head was fixed atop an antique wardrobe, adorned with flowers, drawing the eye towards the table plan.
During the room turnaround, we used our set design background to transform the tipi interior. Soft amber up-lighting gave the space a warm, romantic glow, and the placement of antique-style furniture around the fire pit created a chill-out area for guests who did not wish to dance. Carnival masks and a confetti cannon propelled the party into full swing, glass lanterns lit a path to the luxury toilets, and as the festoon lighting became illuminated against the night sky, the catering team served wood fired pizzas from a renovated Land Rover Defender.
