Annie & Simon
BRIEF : Annie and Simon came to us through a recommendation from their friends Charlotte and Robin, whose wedding we had planned the previous year. Whilst their ceremony took place in a traditional village church, for the reception they welcomed their guests into a modern marquee in their spacious garden. As a very on trend couple, they required the aesthetics to be sharp and current, to reflect their contemporary tastes.
As the reception was at their own property, it was essential to ensure minimal disturbance to their lives, so the installation of the major components began a week ahead of the wedding. Once the marquee, dance floor, catering tent, lighting, lavatories and garden decorations were in place, we were able to focus on the finishing touches. The colours – predominantly autumnal, offset against pale grey – were to be reflected in the finer details: lighting design, decorations, flowers, confetti, guest book, favours, table settings and a modern, stylish cake.
RESULT : With careful lighting design we transformed this space, giving it two distinctly different looks for day and night. A partially clear-roofed structure flooded natural daylight into the marquee, giving it a fresh, clean look by day, and later exposing the night sky. In other sections, the combination of a dramatic star cloth ceiling and colour-wash up-lighting created an inviting environment for the evening reception, giving the space a romantic warmth and vibrancy rare in standard marquee weddings.
